Shout Out to Candace Hassen

Inevitably, when a person makes a commitment to a weekly blog process, one always runs into the difficulty of continuing to talk about oneself when all need or desire to has ceased!
Hence, I thought it would be neat to share with everyone about a quilter I have personally come to admire a lot.
I met Candace Hassen when I lived in Covington, GA, and belonged to The Cotton Boll Quilt guild.

My Waterlilies by  Candace Hassen

She is a gifted artist and designer, but as unassuming as her talent is great. She turned me on to the art of Kandinsky, from which one of my quilts is inspired.

She also got me to try using more solids in my quilts, something I had hardly ever considered, having favored mostly the use of print fabrics in the past.
Here’s her Etsy page, where viewers can come to appreciate her incredible talent. She sells quilts, as well as patterns she herself has designed.
Who is a quilter you admire?

  1. Quilting is such an amazing form of artwork. Not only do have to have and eye for pattern and color, but the complexity of some of the patterns is mind boggling. These are truly beautiful.

  2. I wish I knew how to quilt. When I think how beautiful these would be hanging on the wall or on someone’s bed, I wish I had the talent. I guess instead of wishing I should just do something about it and go take a class, right? Are there quilting classes for someone who doesn’t know anything? Quilting for dummies?
